Will painting my countertops produce the same results?
Unfortunately painting countertops does not produce the same results as resurfacing countertops. Painting the countertop surface involves using spray on paints, enamel, epoxy or acrylic paints in an effort to produce a new looking countertop. It is difficult to get the paint to stick and look good and ultimately the results are very disappointing in most cases.
Do Resurfaced Countertops Look Painted?
The RedRock Resurfacing method produces a new looking countertop that is a much higher quality than a painted countertop. We dare you to tell the difference between a new countertop and a newly resurfaced one!
How Long will the Resurfacing Take?
There are two options to resurfacing your countertops with RedRock Resurfacing. First, a solid color can be applied in roughly five hours that will be ready for use the next day. You can choose to upgrade to a stone finish that will take roughly two days to apply and up to an additional two days to cure. We will vent the area to get the smell outside. Most of the fumes will be gone within a few hours and after a day that smell will no longer linger.
Is Bathroom Resurfacing a Good “Do It Yourself” Project?
We do not recommend those not experienced with resurfacing processes try to tackle a bathroom resurfacing project on their own. A quality result from resurfacing will be glossy and smooth with the appearance of a new bathtub or surround. You simply cannot duplicate this look from a do it yourself kit.
What are the Costs of Bathroom Resurfacing?
A new bathtub and surround can cost $3,000 or more! RedRock Resurcacing can resurface your existing bathtub and surround for a fraction of that – typically under $500! Our newly resurfaced bathtubs and surrounds are durable and can withstand daily use but just like a brand new tub they can be chipped or scratched.
Does the Resurfacing Look Like a Painted Surface?
Absolutely not! In fact, we are so confident in the appearance that we do not think you will be able to tell the difference between a brand new bathtub or surround and our newly resurfaced one.
How Long Will the Resurfacing Take?
We can have your job done in under a day. The process typically takes about 5 hours but then the curing process can take up to 24 hours. We do use solvents, which are necessary to obtain a durable and hard bathtub and surround. We will vent the area to get the smell outside. Most of the fumes will be gone within a few hours and after a day that smell will no longer linger.
Why Aren’t Bathtub Liners a Good Alternative to Replacing a Bathtub?
A bathtub liner is essentially a plastic cover that can be placed over an old, damaged bathtub. They can create problems such as mold over time. You will have to actually order your liner to fit the existing bathtub. That means it can take weeks to receive the liner to be fitted over your bathtub. It also typically costs more than resurfacing a bathtub. Since our primary goal is to save you time and money while remodeling your bathroom we recommend you resurface instead of line your bathtub.
